HTC One X+ Preview – Specs:

The processor has been beefed up, there’s more storage and there’s also a new front facing camera with portait mode. Although externally it remains quite difficult to discern between the One X and One X+, there’s quite a difference in the performance. This performance gain comes by way of both the higher clocked processor and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which the One X+ comes out of the box with. The screen is the same from the One X and that’s not a bad thing since there was nothing to complain about it. It also weighs in at just 5 gm more than its predecessor, which you won’t even notice. Also included is Tegra 3’s trademark technology that uses a low power 5th core for less intensive CPU tasks.

  • CPU: 1.6 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 (upto 1.7 GHz in single core mode)

  • OS: Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

HTC One X+ Preview – What’s changed?

At first glance the HTC One X+ might pass for a HTC One X, but there’s actually quite a lot of changes. Internal changes apart, the body is also slightly different. Unfortunately for some, the One X+ is available only in black. Now with a matte finish and red accents, the One X+ does looks very good and it’s also well built. Android 4.1 helps in making this already snappy phone even better, and an updated HTC Sense UI completes it. There’s a bunch of new apps like HTC Watch, which displays all video players in a single window; and an app that shows all mail and social network accounts together. Beats Audio makes a return as well, but this time there’s a new amplification chip near the speakers that boosts sound quality. And no, the Beats earphones/headphones don’t come bundled because that would make it way too expensive.

The One X+ is now PlayStation certified, which lets you download and play games from the PlayStation store when it foes online in the coming months, great news for gamers! The rear facing camera remains the same, but the front facing camera is now a 1.6 MP shooter that comes with additional features that automatically adjust skin tone and remove blemishes for that perfect mug shot. The two biggest complaints with the HTC One X have been taken care of as well, namely battery and storage. According to HTC, the One X+ has 50% better battery life due to the larger 2100 mAh battery, which is good news since battery life was the biggest chink in the One X’s armor. Finally, there’s still no expandable memory support, but HTC has gone and included 64 GB of internal storage along with the usual 25 GB on Dropbox which should be quite enough according to us.

We agree that the HTC One X+ is more of an incremental upgrade, but the fact cannot be denied that it’s a great phone. Do let us know what you think of our HTC One X+ preview!
