Nokia Lumia 720 and 520 leak – Budget Windows Phone 8 devices

After the worldwide success of both the Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820, Nokia has launched a budget Windows Phone 8 device called the Lumia 620. Although it is yet to launch in India, the Lumia 620 has also been received well. But there were always questions regarding the launch of the Lumia 720 and 520. Since the Windows Phone 7.5/7.8 Lumia range had devices with the designation 900, 800, 710, 610 and 510, it was only natural that Nokia would launch more smartphones. With the Mobile World Congress 2013 coming up, the internet saw the Nokia Lumia 720 and 520 leak, along with first press shots. Here’s more details about these two smartphones.

Nokia Lumia 720:

The Nokia Lumia 720 will lie somewhere between the Lumia 920 and 820. Initial specs seem to suggest it’s not too inferior to the 820, and it has a different camera as well. It’s supposed to come with a 1 GHz dual core processor, 512 MB of RAM and will have a 4.3 inch ClearBlack screen with a resolution of 800 x 480. The built in storage is 8 GB, but the good news is that it will support expandable memory. Rumors suggest that the rear camera will be of an unusual 6 MP, and the front camera will be 2 MP.

As far as design is concerned, it looks like a cross between the Lumia 920 and 820, which isn’t  a bad thing at all. From the leaked press shots, 3 pins are visible at the back which seems to suggest that the Lumia 720 might support wireless charging via a separate rear shell like the Lumia 820.

Nokia Lumia 520:

The Nokia Lumia 520 is set to be the least expensive of the Lumia family. Specs wise, it will pack in pretty much what’s supposed to be on the Lumia 720, but it’s not going to include some of the features such as support for wireless charging. The rear snapper will be a regular 5 MP one, and there won’t be a front camera included. Main specs are a 1 GHz dual core processor, 512 MB of RAM and a 4 inch super sensitive screen, which should be an attractive feature at the proposed price point.
