Aakash Tablet

Are you here to find out the Aakash Delivery Date ? If so, keep reading.. you will get your answers which were unanswered by Datawind from past 8months. The most awaited $35 aakash tablet is no where to be seen in the market. Its almost 8 months now and still we are waiting for updates eagerly. There is nothing else we can do anything apart from blaming Indian Government and Datawind. Meanwhile there is still no proper news about the release of Aakash tablet. There was just a small information by our Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal saying the Enhanced Version of Aakash Tablet PC to be Launched in May. There have been a lot of controversies revolving around Datawind from January 2012. Recently another news popped up saying, Because of Aakash delay, Datawind has lost 6 to 7 Senior executives. All these senior executives left the company because of improper pay checks and salaries. But Datawind has got a different story to tell. They say we have terminated few people who don’t submit daily reports and work else were.

Are Datawind Employees a Reason to Extend Aakash Delivery Date ??

According to a Datawind employee, We have to beg the company to pay our salaries and  its very clear to know that why we are not getting paid even after Datawind has collected around Rs: 5.7 crores of money from 18,000 customers to produce 400 units a day. But unable to understand why Datawind is not paying the salaries to people who are having a pay check above 20,000 INR. Its a known fact that Indian government has given Datawind a contract of supplying 100,000 tablets. But its really a unknown mystery that why the production is being delayed. Also Datawind has promised to deliver 8,000 tablets a day. Well, seeing few facts, i think its really not possible. Its also a known fact that India has allotted Rs: 765 crore for National Mission of education through ICT under Ministry of human resource and development. Which was planning to give 50 lakh tablets in colleges.

Aakash Tablet PC failed

Is Quad Electronics a Reason to Extend Aakash Delivery Date ??

There might be many reasons for the delay of Aakash tablet. But Datawind always point out their break up with Hyderabad based vendor Quad Electronics. Datawind ended its relationship with Quad in January. According to Datawind, Quad has signed a MOU with IIT Rajasthan and then sold off its inventory in the open market. Datawind was searching for a replacement with Quad to proceed further. According to some people, Datawind has evaluated new manufacturing partners in Noida and Cochin but nothing has been finalized till April 2012. But recently in May 2012, Datawind has tied up with VMC to replace Quad. for making Aakash 2. Datawind had made a commitment to deliver all of the devices by March 2012. But no progress so far in the production and delivery of Aakash tablet.  Meanwhile the customers are getting anxious and flooding the consumer websites with complaints and requests to help them. 90% of the customers complained that toll free number given by Datawind never works. Responding to this query, Datawind said that the number is working fine and since it receives almost 40,000 calls per day, there is often a logjam which results in incomplete calls. Mr. Tule has said that “Any person who has made a deposit, is responded to within 48 hours of receipt of payment and is being provided with a specific phone number to call for queries, instead of the regular toll free number.

No News on Aakash Delivery Date, But Why Two More Tablets Were Released ??

With all these controversies going on, Datawind is still being blamed by many people across India. Also the late delivery and delay of aakash tablet has lost the credibility of Datawind in people. If we keep this issue aside, Datawind has launched two more tablets Ubislate 7+ & 7C. And also they made a statement saying Aakash 2 or Ubislate 7+ will be available with Android 4.0 update. This tablet can be expected to reach the market with six to eight weeks from now. Which would be at in July 2012. And according to Datawind CEO, Mr. Tuli said that the tablet can expect an upgrade by year end and also the processor will be upgraded to dual core cortex A9 if the cost of hardware components reduce. He also said that the Indian govt. has set a budget for getting hold of 5 million units of Aakash 2 this year. And according to recent news, This time  the testing of Aakash 2 has been transferred from IIT-Rajasthan to IIT Bombay, where about 100,000 units will be purchased by the institute for the project. So expecting an upgraded version at the same price and this could make it the cheapest Android 4.0 tablet. Despite of all these updates, Aakash delivery date is still a unanswered question by Indian Govt. and Datawind.

Looking at these things, we can clearly conclude that Delivery of Aakash tablet is not possible in May 2012. It may extend to June or July for sure. If you have booked your Aakash Tablet and are waiting for the delivery, then certainly its not May. You can expect the delivery not before May 2012. If at all the delivery is starting in May, it should have already been started by now. Because this is the second week of May and still there re 30 lakh more pending tablets to send. If you have any queries on Aakash, you can refer to our Aakash Library or leave a comment to know the exact aakash delivery date.

Datawind came up with two new tablets UbiSlate 7+ and UbiSlate 7C. Datawind has already bagged the contract of  supplying low cost tablet ‘Aakash’ with the Indian Government.. Now, Datawind has launched two new tablets within the price range of Rs: 3000-4000. These tablets are still considered to be the amongst the cheapest tablets in the market. The two tablets were dubbed as UbiSlate 7+ and UbiSlate 7C which have a 7-inch display with 800 x 480 pixels resolution, 256MB RAM, powered by Cortex A8 800 MHz processor, Wi-Fi, GPRS. These two tablets come with a 3200 mAh battery to give 180 minutes of continuous usage time. and are powered by Android Gingerbread 2.3.

New Datawind Tablets – UbiSlate 7+ and UbiSlate 7C

The only major difference between these two new datawind tablets is UbiSlate 7+ comes with a 2GB of Internal memory and comes with a resistive touchscreen. Where as UbiSlate 7C has 4GB of internal memory and comes with a capacitive touchscreen. Both UbiSlate 7+ and UbiSlate 7C  features Wi-Fi and GPRS with SIM and phone capability. The both tablets will come pre-loaded with Yahoo services due to a partnership with Yahoo India. Datawind has also teamed up with Indian carrier Aircel, where Aircel will offer UbiSlate owners a 2GB of GPRS data for just Rs: 100 per month. These both new datawind tablets will support using of 3G dongles in your tablet if you want to access faster internet speed.

new datawind tablets

Datawind has not cleared if the tablets will be provided an access to Google Play Store (Google Android Market). It would be really interesting to watch when exactly Datawind wants to release these two tablets in Indian market. Specially in the present worst case of not delivering 30 lakh aakash tablets in time. Datawind has already accepted that they are 2 weeks behind the Aakash exact delivery date. It would be really a prestige issue for Datawind to keep their promise for delivering Aakash tablet to atleast some important regions of India by May 2012.

new datawind tabletsAlso its very obvious to know the fact that, UbiSlate 7+ and UbiSlate 7C are not been designed with quality or performance oriented. Instead these products rely on their low price tag in order to sell more in number. Most of the Indian customers are looking to purchase an Android tablet with not much fancy specs. So UbiSlate 7+ and UbiSlate 7C would be a good choice to launch in Indian market, before everyone forgets about the existence of Datawind or Aakash project. Including Micro USB and USB port are always there. So for any normal user in India, who want to put their hands on Android operating system can own these tablets.

Datawind, had already been into problems with their previous partners Quad Electronics (Hyderabad). The company claimed that it has already done 30 lakh booking for the new tablets to be launched in the market. Datawind CEO, Mr.Suneet Singh Tuli said “We will first deliver pre-bookings, which are over 30 lakh”. Mr.Tuli did not agree with the perception of tablet market growing in India. He said, “We are getting around 8,000 orders a day…” Mr.Tuli also said that Datawind will provide the upgraded Aakash to the government for approval. After the approval, Datawind will then deliver the one lakh tablets. And we already know Mr.Kapil Sibal, (Telecom Minister) had recently said that the upgraded version would be available in May.

Well, lets hope for the best.  Hope Datawind keeps their word of delivering Aakash tablets by the end of 2012 atleast. People are looking to put their hands on previously booked tablets, rather than buying these new Datawind tablets Ubislate 7+ & 7C.

Looks the long wait for Aakash tablet has really frustrated many people in India. Finally a kind of good news for you guys. An Enhanced, faster version of Aakash tablet pc will be launched in May 2012. This Monday (i.e) 02/03/2012, The Indian Human Resources Development Minister Kapil Sibal said, “A Faster and enhanced version of low cost tablet PC, Aakash would be launched on trail basis in May 2012.” He also said that the device is being tested and based on feedback from students and gadget guru’s, the device will be out with more advanced features and long battery.

The new tablet would have a better 3200 AH battery with minimum of 3 hour battery backup and a 700 MHz cortex A8 processor and a capacitive touch screen which would get over the earlier issues observed in Aakash tablets. He also said that the first 100,000 tablets was aimed for students of higher education institutions in India and the optional examination in class X would be extended across the country like CBSE. Mr.Sibal also said that he wanted a structural, decentralised, administrative reform with a collaborative approach for development of education sector.

Well, if we keep this aside, there are many tabs in India now which are amazing in performance and very cheap. Its really good to know that Indian government has taken this initiative of giving tabs for 35$ or less. But how far they will be used by our students and higher education institute students ? This is a million dollar question. Because recently we have bought a low cost tablet for Rs:6999/- which has 1Ghz processor speed and a 256mb RAM. To our surprise, nothing worked well in that tablet. The touch screen is very poor and the apps were not supporting well.

Do you think Aakash Tablet PC Failed to keep their promise? Aakash, the world’s cheapest tablet is trying very hard to deliver their product ? We are in the second week of January 2012 and still no news of Aakash Tablet. The Data Wind Company said that they will start the delivery from January 2012. But as usual they didn’t keep their promise. It was really surprising to know that they are still keeping the slot open to book Ubislate 7. I guess if we book now, it will be delivered somewhere around end of May 2012. Because, they said if you book in January, the tablet may be delivered by the end of March. Since they promised it as march, you can add two more additional months and get it by May 2012. And that too it is not confirmed that the tablet will be delivered by the end of January for people who have booked it in the month of December 2011.

Aakash Tablet PC Failed: Disappointing Service

The main reason to discuss about the poor service of Aakash and Datawind is their negligence towards people’s queries and mails. There are around 40 websites with Aakash domain name stating them as the official site. Out of which 38 are fake and the remaining two are the official sites which are of no use. You can find hundreds of comments and mails on our Aakash posts. Each and every comment is replied by Coolpctips team. Doesn’t the Datawind Company feel the minimum responsibility of replying to people who send them mails? At-least an automated message can keep them waiting. To be frank, I guess there is no proper and well structured customer service team guiding the people who have booked the Aakash Tablet. At least an official press meet can give people some hope. Which the Datawind company is not trying to do. They might be busy with their deliver data coming close. But a official statement saying that the tablet will be delivered in so and so time will be fair enough to keep a hope.

Aakash Tablet PC failed

Last year in 2011, Aakash was the biggest technology news in all over the world, now it has been the biggest failure in whole world. With its poor customer service response, the tablet has become nothing more than a big fail. When the official team has announced that people can book the tab, guess they didn’t expect the response to be this big. Because in 14days, people have ordered over 15lakh tablets where each unit is priced with a tag of Rs: 2500/- Seeing this amazing response, Data Wind has decided to open 3 new factory centers in Cochin, Noida and Hyderabad. As per my knowledge, Data Wind is ready with one factory in Hyderabad which will be leading by Quad, which is making LCD for this Aakash tablet. The Datawind CEO Mr.Suneet Singh Tuli has announced that once the factories are in their place, they will be able to make 70,000-80,000 tablets per day. This seems to be a tough task for me.

It’s really good that Datawind doesn’t want their customers to pay the money online. As there are hundreds of fake aakash sites now in internet, it is really easy to fool people to pay money saying this is official site of Aakash tablet. Let’s wait for the official statement from the company to give some official statement of when they are delivering the product to their users. Recent news say that Aakash had a record of over 900,000+ pre-sales in 2011 when compared to all other tabs which were sold out around 300,000 in 2011. These 300,000 tablets include all Apple, Samsung, and other popular tabs. Seeing this huge demand for Aakash in India, the company should really take some serious action to improve the delivery date of the product.

Aakash Tablet PC FailedIf Aakash is compared to any random low performance tablet in world, it got the cheap resistive touch screen and a slow processor which is very disappointing for a 2012 techie guy. But at this price, it is the best tablet which any student would love to have. Even though it received about 1, 00,000 orders a day, the craze of Aakash tablet is still the same. People are expecting Aakash to be the next iPad in India. Where in the cheapest model of iPad is 12times costlier than Aakash. So, expecting Aakash to be substitute of Apple iPad would be nothing more than a sin for sure. There is a proverb called, the more wheat you add, the more bread you get. This is for people who are expecting too much from a poor Indian Tablet. Keep in mind that Aakash can never replace any other tab released in India. What you are getting in 2,500 is a real gift for the people. Lets, be happy with what we are getting now.

The only replacement to Aakash can be its newer version called Ubislate 7. This comes with a 700 MHz processor which is an upgrade to 300 MHz in Aakash Tablet. The government of India has promised that Ubislate 7 will be out in market with amazing exceptions. But, it is a million dollar question when it comes to deliver the product in less time. People are feeling embarrassing when someone talks about Aakash now. Because they are tired of waiting for the tab from 3months. Let’s take a look at the Performance of Aakash which you have to read for sure. You will get to know why this tab is a tagged with a price of Rs:2,500.

Aakash Tablet PC Failed: Disappointing Performance

In the above section of our post you have read about the poor service of Aakash. Now let’s find why Aakash is a fail in terms of technology and revolutionary gadgets. To be frank, Aakash is not at all worth spending Rs: 2,500. The actual cost of the device will not cost more than Rs: 1500. Well that is not the point now, the main point is, and we have lot of hopes on Aakash. But is it really worth? Let me give a detailed answer with a No. I want to tell you few basic facts about Aakash tablet. Later, it’s up to you to decide if Aakash Tablet PC Failed or still a super hit.

1) Hidden Costs & Pricing: There are few hidden costs when you are buying Aakash. Try to find them here; you have to buy these below things to use Aakash effectively. The device will cost you Rs: 2500 + an Extra shipping which costs you minimum Rs: 200-300, you should buy a minimum of 4GB Micro SD card which will be around Rs: 400 – 900 and there will be no Earphones – Rs: 300 – 400.
Total – Rs: 3800 – 4000.

2) Slow Processor: I personally don’t think that Android can work efficiently on a 366MHz processor. The processor in Aakash is the biggest drawback of the device. You can’t run more than 3 apps at a time. Even though you try to run them, the result we all know. Restart the device..The processor is heating up very fast when compared to other tabs. If you are using Aakash for more than two hours, then you will feel that you are holding a stove in hand.

3) Limited Memory:  You cannot store much data on this device. There are a lot of amazing android apps in market which require minimum 8GB card. In our Indian market, a 8GB Memory card is somewhere around Rs: 999.. So is it worth spending almost all Rs: 1,000 for a memory card? That too for a 2,500 tab? I don’t think it will work. Even if the tab allows 32GB storage, you cannot afford to buy a Rs: 5000 memory card for a tab which is half the price of the memory card. Because you don’t have enough memory, you cannot store more movies, data and music on the tablet, which is a waste.

4) Low Battery Life: Aakash has got 2100 mAh battery which can give a battery back of hardly 3hours. So, for every 3hours you have to charge your battery? Then when are we actually using it? The situation would be worst if students are fighting for switch boards in college to charge their devices for every 3hours. If the screen size is not 7″ then the 2100 mAh would have the best battery for Aakash. Now it seems that the battery will disappoint many people.

5) Bad Display & Touch Screen: Trust me; Aakash is nothing great when it comes to its display. The basic display which has no HD output is really horrible to watch a movie or a video. The screen will reflect the light and also it’s over brightness. To my knowledge, you can never see what’s on your screen if you are under the sun. And also the touch screen is too resistive. You need to press the screen very hard sometimes to get your work done. So, don’t even think of playing a game on it. Aakash Tablet PC Failed6) No Bluetooth, No USB dongles: You cannot access your 3G dongles like Airtel, Idea and Reliance in your Aakash tablets. I still didn’t understand why they have given 2 USB ports when there is no USB dongles support. We hardly use one for the Pen drive. Also there is no support for Bluetooth or IR to send and receive data. The only possible way to copy data is the USB port used to insert USB drives.

7) No Android Market: Yes, there is no android market support to the Aakash Tablet. It will limit to very few apps. If you are a techie guy, you can install the market on this tab in minutes. But what about people who are in rural areas and what about students? Well, the answer is you can’t do anything. Just they have to adjust with what they got. If you want to install any new app, you have to spend some real time.

8 ) No Hardware Support : You cannot upgrade your tablet to newer versions of Aakash. This means, you have to fix only to android 2.2 through out your life. This is really embarrassing when you show it to your friends. If you are trying to upgrade to android 2.3 or some other versions, first try to check the processor speed and other requirements needed to install it. I am sure you will be disappointed. Because the future versions of android require minimum of 700 MHz.

9) No Speakers: The first thing is, you are not getting any headphones to listen to audio or watch video on your tab. and secondly, you don’t have any external speakers to listen the audio. So, this is another minus point in this tab.

10) Operating System: You will not be satisfied with android 2.2. Because now where ever you see any new phone or tab, they will have minimum android 2.3 or 4.0. Your processor in Aakash will never support any upgrade apart from Android 2.3. This will make you feel irritating which is another bonus and apart from this, you can find a bad logo design behind the back of Aakash which is very ugly. You feel like holding a govt. laptop filled with stickers and bar codes.

Trust me, for a Rs:2,500 tablet, these performance from a tablet is quite natural. These are the few drawbacks of Aakash which will never fulfill people’s requirement. But still we have some hope that at least we are trying to put our hands on a tab which really has been the hot favorite of year 2011. We hope at least the service should be good from the Datawind company when the product is out and ready to use by the people. If Datawind Company is not showing any respect to their buyers at the beginning stage of the tablet release, then Aakash tablet will not survive much days in the Indian market.

They are concentration only on building the product. But the key factor is missing, which is nothing but proper customer support and a healthy relationship with its users. I know that its very difficult to give replies to all 15lakh customers to tell when the product will be delivered, but still they have a alternative of announcing it in a press release or at least with an automated message to all their customers. And I am very sure that it is not worth to wait this much for a ordinary low quality tablet. Please share your feelings and queries below. We will find a way to answer it and tell you why Aakash Tablet PC Failed in India.

After a very long wait, people have finally got a chance to book their Aakash Tab Online. People were very happy to know that after 3 months time they finally got a chance to order their favorite tab. It was very exciting when it was announced that the tab will be delivered in a week’s time from the day of order. This statement made people to over excite and book the tabs in minutes. But the sad news came up very slowly saying that the Datawind company aka Aakash team will deliver the tablet from January 2012, which is next year. Is Datawind aka Aakash manufactures testing the patience of people? Well, to be frank, Datawind Company should only make solid statements when they are really ready to hit the market. This is the opinion of people if you read our previous comments on aakash tablet, which are mentioned below the post.

Aakash Delivery Date Extended – January 2012.

It’s not a joke to make people to wait for so long and never responding on any queries and showing no care towards people. Coolpctips has written around 5 articles on Aakash tablet and each of the articles got around 150+ comments where people were very eager to know what will happen next. People are really ignored by the Data Wind team to take the minimum responsibility of responding to people’s queries. There is no forum for discussion and no proper meeting point related to Aakash tablet from the manufactures or from the government to help students. Most of the people who are facing a lot of problems booking this tablet are teenagers. Is govt. and Datawind Company really concerned about people? If so, they should respond to people queries or at least reply to their mails.

Aakash Delivery Date Extended

Aakash Delivery Date Extended – Online Booking

This December 15th 2011 the official Aakash website has opened the registrations to order the tab and in just 4days, all the tabs have been booked. The team has announced that the tab will be delivered within a week from the booking date, which never happened. Aakash tablet has been a dream to every school and college going student to own one. But the data wind company has released just 30,000 tabs which have to be booked only through online. When the tablet was released 2 months ago, it was promised that every student will get this tab and has to book only from their respected schools and colleges. Later on it was shifted to online booking where most of the people have booked more than 5 tabs at a time to black market them.

Aakash Delivery Date Extended – Bad Customer Service

People who have booked the tablet online have got a conformation code, which is used as a product id for further transactions. Even though some people have booked the tab, they never got the conformation mail or at least a phone call from the team, which is expected to come on the day itself. And there are no further updates from the Aakash team to the users, that when the tab will be out and what are the things to be done to get the tablet. The data wind company has officially declared that the people who have booked the Aakash tablet online will get their tablet from January 2012. And this delivery will be done to only those people who booked the tablet online.

Any news or updates related to Aakash tablet is creating a tsunami in internet now. People are really holding up their nerves to hear the official statement of Datawind Company to declare further updates on Aakash tablet. I don’t know how famous the Aakash tab will be, but certainly Aakash tablet has got a very bad reputation of customer care services. If this is the case, people would suffer a lot to exchange their tabs when they got any technical issue with it. This has to be kept in mind by the data wind company that, they should respond to people. At-least for people who have bought them or kept a order to get this very soon.

And now coming to Ubislate 7, it has been said that the tablet will be released in the month of January 2012 to take orders. And the delivery will be from February 2012. But by seeing the team response and negligence of Aakash tablet, it’s obvious to believe that even this tab will be late and can be expected to reach customers by the end of March or April 2012. The only thing which we can do is to wait patiently for another 1month to get this tab in your hands. Please share your opinions on this Aakash Delivery Date Extended article, so that the official team might respond on this.
