Samsung Windows Phone 8 Devices:

As a defense in the Apple vs. Samsung lawsuit, Samsung has revealed the names of two of it’s Windows Phone 8 devices. The two devices revealed are called Samsung Odyssey and Samsung Macro. Apparently, the Samsung Odyssey will be the higher end device and the Samsung Macro will be the mid range device. Here are the generalized specs:

  • Samsung Odyssey – 4G Connectivity, 4.65 inch Super AMOLED HD screen, 8 MP rear facing and 2 MP front facing camera, NFC support.
  • Samsung Macro – 4G Connectivity, 4 inch Super AMOLDED WVGA screen, 5 MP rear facing and 2 MP front facing camera, NFC support.

Both these Samsung devices are supposed to come with the same 1.5 GHz dual core processor but their RAM may vary. This is good news as the previous Windows Phone 7.5 supported only single core processors and it’s good to see Windows Phone 8 devices finally coming around the bend in terms of hardware.

Nokia Windows Phone 8 Devices:

The Nokia Summit is set to take place in Helsinki, Finland on September 5, 2012 and we’re pretty sure Nokia is going to show off it’s new range of Windows Phone 8 devices. According to a recent leak from a developer tool, Nokia is working on quite a few new devices and there’s a lot on it’s plate right now. The specs of the devices aren’t clear yet but we can bet that at least some devices will come with multi-core processors and 1 GB of RAM. We’re also pretty sure they’ll come with NFC and multi-tasking support. These are the names of some of the devices leaked:

  • Nokia Lumia 1001
  • Nokia Lumia 910
  • Nokia Lumia 920
  • Nokia Lumia 950

Windows Phone 8 Devices - Nokia

Assuming these are indeed what the devices will be called, Nokia Lumia 1001 looks to be Nokia’s flagship product of the Windows Phone 8 range. Lumia 910, 920 and 950 could be Windows Phone 8 variants with similar hardware to Nokia Lumia 900. Since the Lumia 900 is still in production it could be a good idea to use current hardware, tweak it a bit and get Windows Phone 8 to run on it and save costs. It seems unlikely that Nokia would produce any more Windows Phone 7.5/7.8 at this point of time.

We’ll have to wait and see what Nokia has in store for us on September 5 since it’s a first party Windows Phone 8 manufacturer. Keep checking this space for more Windows Phone 8 updates!
